Levi Kramer

My work is informed by a deep interest in natural patterns and the forms and mechanisms of life. I tend to gravitate to subjects that are strange to me, as my practice functions as an effort towards an understanding of (human) nature. It is important to me that my works satisfy both a logical and an emotional dimension, as I try to give reality a place in my heart and mind and through this effort communicate with an audience. I’m interested in what the subconscious can tell me, and one of the vehicles by which I try to tap into it is the hypnotic and visceral sound that accompanies most of my works. I like to combine modern and classical form language in my work, as I am as interested in the language of ritual and allegory, as in what modern tools and science allow us to perceive about reality. Thus, I often work in modern and digital media such as 3D, electronic sound, and digital imaging, but refer to ancient thought systems and visual tools.
