2022Exposed Amare The Hague, Netherlands A year of researching Egyptian braiding; sprang. A sprang work can be made from one piece of yarn that is warped around two threads or beams. It is a repetitive motion of the hands twisting the yarn around one another that creates this stretchy textile. You could compare its qualities to a loose knit. The book of Peter Collingwood ‘The Techniques of Sprang: Plaiting on Stretched Threads’ was at the basis of my learning experience. I made a large variety of samples, exploring different materials and scales. Group

Intertwining Embodiments The Hague, Netherlands www.emmaverrijt.nl/intertwining-embodiments An installation and live performance. The line in space describes an outline, suggests surfaces and creates volumes without having mass. To be interpreted simultaneously as a boundary and a creator of new possibilities, the line serves as a minimal tool to construct spaces and intervene with patterns of movement suggested by existing built environment. During the performance contemporary dancers explore the spaces that the lines create through embodied research, where they aquire knowledge through the enitery of the body.
