Visually peculiar, sonically complex, and emotionally unheimlich — Light/Light Collective invites the audience into dreamscapes where meaning arises through intuition, atmosphere, and sensory experience. The collective brings together visual artist/theatre maker Omer Van Soldt, light artist and composer Mateusz Godlewski, and sound artist Ulysse Fontaine in a rich interdisciplinary exploration of contemporary theatre. Their collaborative process begins with a strong emphasis on audiovisual imagination, treating light, sound, and movement as narrative elements in their own right. This immersive approach forms the foundation from which text and story emerge organically, resulting in surreal dialogues that challenge conventional dramaturgy.

The work features a 5x5m room made entirely from front doors. From the inside out it intrusively knocks in intricate patterns, creating a composition out of the signalling of entry. Knock was made in a condensed period as a form of exploration of space and material. Made in Collaboration with Ruben Dijkstal and Ossip Blits

A map is a reference to a space that is outside of it. From a Pataphysical perspective, mapmaking is an act of reappropriating, and therefore doubling, space through the lens of the imaginary. Jorge Luis Borges’s (1899) on several occasions accuses mirrors of multiplying space while at the same time, being inherently referential, holding no content of their own. I decided to create a map that does little but refer. Imagine, a 15x15x0,07 cm sliver of space.

When too much becomes nothing, and nothing becomes too much Het Nationale Theater / Zaal 3 Zaal 3, Netherlands A collaborative theater project with Inga Hirsch, Omer van Soldt, Wiggo Mott, Andrzej Konieçzny, Levi Kramer, Charlotte Roschka and Myra-Ida van der Veen When too much becomes nothing and nothing becomes too much is constructed around a paradoxical notion of the musical term - decrescendo. Decrescend is diminishing intensity; decrescen is moving energy; decresce is the deconstruction of chaos into a moment of temporality; decresc is the collective straining into a new pattern. The nature of decres is double-faced and does not exist in emptiness. All decre is dynamic, and in context to the other. We hear, see and perceive decr because something happened before. Throughout dec we are opening up space for exploring previously unseen and unheard happenings. Reducing de then to a simple moment in time, that coincidentally happens to exist on stage. D is crescendo.

2024BETA Circus Ilhavo, Portugal BETA CIRCUS aims to address new trends in contemporary circus and to offset the lack of opportunities for artists to get trained at a high professional level. The project also proposes moments for the audience to experience those new languages and concepts with live performances, especially in the partner countries. It is a cooperation project that expects to develop a new European vision dedicated to the capacity building process for emerging contemporary circus artists looking for innovative works, trends and languages in Europe, with special focus on countries with a lack of high level circus education and reduced recognition of the circus domain in the field of contemporary arts. This residency took place in Italy, Serbia, Latvia and Portugal. The residency concluded in the showing of our production 'Weaving Windows' during LEME festival 2024. betacircus.eu
