2019Vorübermorgen Kindl Berlin The thematic exhibition brings together 20 artistic positions devoted to the relationship between the past, present and future. Our present continually dominates the appropriation and interpretation of what happened before us and also of what we foresee or hope for in an uncertain or concrete future. Reconstructions and prognoses are never entirely objective, either because of technical possibilities, our current prevailing mentality or traditional knowledge. That is why, according to a metaphor, we appear as dwarfs on the shoulders of giants. The culture, science and education of previous generations are our inherited tools, with the help of which we understand the world and generate insights from it. Once every two years, a very special museum room opens in Rotterdam's Boijmans Museum – a room with a dark curtain in front of it. Only accessible to children – adults are not allowed. Parents wait nervously outside until their offspring come out... with an art purchase. Objects, prints or originals by renowned artists. 2011Fashion Talks Museum für Kommunikation Berlin, Germany Pleated trousers or ripped jeans, high heels or flip-flops – when we ask ourselves ‘What shall I wear?’, we are also asking ourselves ‘Who do I want to be?’ every single day. Even before we say anything, our clothes have already spoken for, about and perhaps even against us. The exhibition FASHION TALKS examines our individual and collective approach to fashion and the messages we convey with our outfits. Who decides what is ‘in’ or ‘out’? Why do we have uniforms? What is an emo? What style codes apply in youth scenes? Whether checks, badges, streetwear or camouflage looks: the exhibition takes a closer look at old and new fashion trends across around 450 square metres. Using everyday items of clothing such as jeans, it shows not only how small variations in cuts, patterns and finishes can transform them into codes, but also how the complex and sophisticated system of ‘fashion’ works. From creation to marketing, it illustrates the strategies of fashion companies and designers. www.mfk-berlin.de/ausstellung-fashion-talks/ Group

2009Camuflajes La Casa Encendida Madrid, Spain Camouflage as a natural defence mechanism has been refined by humans, mainly for military purposes. However, the aesthetic fascination accidentally provoked by forms of camouflage, whether in nature or elsewhere, has never been able to be separated from this functionality. One of the aims of this project is to analyse how, conversely, the purely aesthetic can be intentionally functional. Camouflages allows us to see how the use of the same tool addresses issues of identity, violence, politics and society through the work of thirty-three artists, including Rogelio López Cuenca, Laura Marte, Manuel Cerda, Laurent La Gamba, Maider López, Monica Duncan and Lara Odell, Liu Bolin, Desiree Palmen, Leo Fabrizio, Chema Cobo, Adonis Flores, Mateo Maté, Juan Luis Moraza, Harvey Opgenorth, Carlos Miranda, José Ramón Amondarain, Joan Fontcuberta, Yasumasa Morimura, Domingo Sánchez Blanco, Sonia La Mur, Ángeles Agrela, Gina Zacharias, Lalla A. Essaydi, Carmen Mariscal, and Francesca Woodman. Curators: Maite Méndez Baiges and Pedro Pizarro The exhibition was also on display in Espai Cultural Caja Madrid, Barcelona & Museo del Patrimonio Municipal, Zaragoza www.lacasaencendida.es/exposiciones/camuflajes Group

1997Jane Blond & Sylvia Plaid - Special Guests in Vienna Kunsthalle Exnergasse Vienna The performance by protagonist Sylvia Plaid consisted of ten visits to traditional coffee houses such as Sacher. Especially for this occasion, she wore a dress with a tablecloth seamlessly fixed to it. She cleared the table and placed her tablecloth over it. Nothing else. Among the unaware coffee house visitors, there was always one insider eyewitness who wrote a report about what happened. In the exhibition, visitors could sit on the original coffee house chair that Sylvia Plaid had sat on and listen to a headphone recording of how the visit had gone. The eyewitness reports and memory protocols were compiled in a book. www.wuk.at/kunsthalle-exnergasse/ Duo

2002I AM SOMEONE ELSE Stichting Kunst en Cultuur Zuid Holland Rijswijk , Netherlands I AM SOMEONE ELSE The project I am someone else encourages twelve- and thirteen-year-olds to embark on a quest to discover their own identity and their place in the world. They are introduced to the work and ideas of three visual artists, each of whom addresses the concept of identity from their own perspective in DVDs: Désirée Palmen in “Streetwise”, Barbara Visser in “Philippa” and Martin C. de Waal in “Global Citizen”. The project allows pupils to link the insights they have gained to their own experiences by watching and discussing the DVDs and then creating a similar piece of work themselves, focusing on their own identity. Unlike most visual art exhibitions, this triptych comes in a small case. The most important item in this case is a DVD containing six chapters, each showing the work of one of the artists, followed by “The making of ...”. The case also contains a DVD player with accessories, teaching materials and information about the three artists. The intention is that pupils first watch ‘Streetwise’, ‘Philippa’ or ‘Global-Citizen’. Pupils are asked what they think the secret behind the work might be. They can discuss this with each other. They then watch ‘The making of …’ together, which was made by the artist in question. After watching the creative process and the background of “Streetwise”, “Philippa” or “Global-Citizen”, the pupils work on their own assignment, which is clearly explained in the accompanying teaching materials. From January 2003, “I am someone else” will be available on Kunstmenu for Year 6 pupils in primary education and for the first year of secondary education. catalogus.boekman.nl/pub/Kunstgebouw/2002.pdf finished

Based on art history, surveillance studies and criticism of colonialism, she examines how contemporary surveillance practices serve to reinforce rather than work against Canada's ongoing colonial problem. This publication also discusses the workshop project Mamook Ipsoot (Chinook for “to hide or make invisible”) and illustrates it with the work of participant Carson Pechawis, Invisible in Mother Nature. The book is currently being printed.
