2025Breathers Bronco The Hague, Netherlands Breathers, a solo exhibition by Matthew Ferguson, begins with a single object: an Orcon WTU-2000-EC-E mechanical ventilation unit. Constantly running, it moves air through the building, maintaining the conditions that allow everything else to occur. From this starting point, the exhibition is created through a layering of works and actions: an unofficial reconstruction of Charlotte Posenenske’s DW Series, performance routes that loop through and beyond the building, temporary arrangements of materials, and shared events. Together, these elements explore how systems of air, labour, and attention shape one another. Rather than fixed objects, the works operate as processes, circulating, adjusting, and maintaining. Solo

2025The Moon Under Water Bronco The Hague, Netherlands The Moon Under Water, a group show in a windowless space at the intersection of four studios. Borrowing its title from Orwell's imagined pub, the show offers a spot to pause, to drift, an to encounter. A place to be alone together, or meet another. Where time is only marked by those who pass through it. A place where everybody knows your name, or at least, what you’re drinking. With work by Bob Demper, Matthew Ferguson, Zoë Hollander, Daisy Madden-Wells, Marnix van Uum, and Hanae Werinussa Wilke With work by Bob Demper, Matthew Ferguson, Zoë Hollander, Daisy Madden-Wells, Marnix van Uum, and Hanae Werinussa Wilke Group

2015The Ultimate Vessel Koppe Astner Glasgow, United Kingdom For the exhibition The Ultimate Vessel, Koppe Astner invited artists to make a vessel with no guidelines other than that the object had to hold a flower. The idea for the show was inspired by Magali Reus and Matthew Smith – two artists that both coincidently made impromptu vessels in their studios. The exhibition was accompanied by a text written by the artist Simon Fujiwara. The ending reads, ‘How can a flower speak alone when the vessel speaks for it? And, given the chance to speak, what would these flowers and these vessels say about our lost and lonely world?’ kendallkoppe.gallery/ Group

2015Making Space The Minories Galleries Colchester, United Kingdom Making Space presents work by artists who have explored ways of documenting, recording or responding to space, whether as a physical or psychological environment. Space can be made or defined across times, through sounds, via actions or by other means. Space is one of the tools we use to define ourselves – the space between us and other things positions us, and is how we help to locate ourselves within the world and plan our next move. Space can be physical or psychological, or both. Making Space presents work by artists who have explored ways of documenting, recording or responding to space, whether as a physical or psychological environment. A parallel incidental exploration also occurs around the question of the making of an artwork, and when an artwork becomes completed. This is particularly relevant in relation to artworks that are performed. The “making space” that is referred to in this case is the space where something is made, or perhaps where something manifests itself – sometimes these two things may occur within the same space, at others they are clearly defined and distinct. 2012Recollect Wysing Arts Center Bourn, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom (as Better Futures Forever with Isabel Gylling & Kate Murphy) The group Better Futures Forever responded to the exhibition by curating their own show, with the work of five artists, in Wysing’s gallery before Recollect was installed. In editing these images, certain elements of Wysing’s gallery have been amended or improved, raising questions about how memories of real space and activity are fixed and manipulated. By co-opting a public space for private use and allowing access to this act only through mediated images the group play with tensions between public and private space wysing.art Group
