Sharing the same name as the governor of Lebanon’s central bank has created a certain narrative and socio-economic position of how my body is presented and seen within the world. “Becoming a governor” was a wikipedia performance that was alive for 5 minutes on July 7, 2022 between 17:23 and 17:28. I was the only viewer as my edits were automatically changed after publishing. The project was an auto-ethnographic research project about reclaiming identity and playing around the notion of economy and power through irony. The process involves me editing Riad Salameh’s Wikipedia page and reclaiming it as my own. The reaction of the public will be collected as material so I can research: How can a name create different narratives for two different bodies?

Economy of my body was an auto-ethnographic project that was ongoing for a year (2021-2022). The more money I spend on food, shelter and maintenance of the everyday, the more the value of my body increased. In parallel, my search history and the assigned categorization of my personalized ads were made visible as to understand how data tracking is influencing my purchasing choices. Please note that the video provided is only a documentation of the work. The piece is a net-art piece and can be explored on www.riadsalameh.net/work-1/economy-of-my-body

The work was a 24/7 youtube livestream where audience monitor an email address that does not receive any emails except the generic google mails. However, due to technical issues, it only ran for 8 hours 20 minutes and 42 seconds. It was also streaming the audio of the room where the hardware was residing. It questions issues of privacy, time and networked intimacies.

In collaboration with Florencia Pochinki, Maikki Siuko and Natacha Lamounier. The manifesto aimed to break the usual, linear structure and instead think of it both vertically, horizontally and expanding to all directions around the internet. The manifesto took the form of a fungi, a network. The manifesto consisted of short texts and hyperlinks about different perspectives to fungi, care and anarchism. How do Fungi care? How can we perceive care from a fungal perspective? If care consists of the ontological relations with the world, how can we not fall into anthropomorphizing the Fungi actions but instead, be open to new symbiotic relations with humans and nonhumans? What if we build care relationships with all the different parts of the network, while also recognising their divergent agencies? Can a fungal point of view help us destabilize our anthropocentric and patriarchal notions of care? Can it help us decolonize notions of care and start to question who/when/how/what to care about? Please note that the video provided is only a documentation of the work. The piece is a net-art piece and can be explored on www.riadsalameh.net/manifesto

They told me that I am a Machine .mp3info
This sound piece is an ethnographic research of voices without language. Sounds of friends laughing, eating, singing, moaning, screaming were recorded. The act of sitting with someone and recording their ‘human’ voices was invasive, yet intimate. Their combination and remixing formed a music concrete of sounds that are inherently human and natural to our biological self.

“Follow me @salamehriad” was an netnographic research project that deals with a series of Instagram performance interventions where the in real life (IRL) and Technological being meet by the same “spirit” (Performer / Individual). The physical biological organic presence juxtaposes with the Virtual presence (Image) to form an online conversation. One of the key component of a post-internet attitude. This discourse can be related to the current digital society of social media presence and representation. Human existence and tangibility is vital to the manifestation of technologies & algorithmic performances. The machine cannot exist without a physical presence.

2021Post Reality Lahore Digital Arts Festival Lahore, Pakistan Over recent decades, our use of digital spaces has steadily increased. As their sophistication has developed, so has our dependency on them. Our communication, memories, and information – all of it now exists in the digital sphere. Because so much of our lives have shifted online, our understanding of what is real has also shifted. Before, we understood reality as objective observations and facts; now, it is much more nebulous and undefined. The digital world exists but cannot be seen, touched, or smelled. It can be invented or augmented from standard reality and edited and manipulated by multiple users. It is no longer straightforward to know what ‘real’ really is. lahoredigitalfestival.com/ Group
