It is not only me that comes to the page, that void in which I must jump into. I am guided by the world's happenings and I have to be willing and patient and open to see it.

2024Netting and Waiting See Lab The Hague, Netherlands Netting and Waiting’ unfolds around the stories of the ‘nettenboetsters’ (‘net makers’) of Scheveningen and explores a connection between different timelines of sensitive labour. The exhibition takes inspiration from repetitive, craft-based work and its ability to alleviate anxiety in an uncertain world. Alongside historical elements of Scheveningen, four contemporary artists will share their work, which each in its own way, conceptually touches upon the liminal space between waiting and creating. Then the story Unblossomed Hydrangeas by Emily Josephine Rooney about the beauty of the unpredictable landscape around us in which the passage of time becomes unexpectedly visible www.instagram.com/p/ClEq-bmMAuf/ Group

The Garden Westzaan, Netherlands emily-josephine-rooney.com/The-Garden To know that form and feeling are integral and inseperable aspects of our reality. To see both the beauty and the underlying form of a back yard and all that takes place in it. I witness with admiration a way of being which regards function over form.

Rhiannon United States emily-josephine-rooney.com/A-project-on-Family-Patriotism As my sister and her daughters relocate from one army base to the next, they travel through the open landscape of the American Midwest. At a time when both personal and national identities are in flux the enduring presence of the land becomes a steadfast companion through a time of uncertainty. This project is an ode to the tenderness of family bonds and a call to value our mutually dependant relationship with the landscape.

Moon-dog Back-stitch emily-josephine-rooney.com/We-Saw-the-World-Move This project is a meditation on attention. We immerse ourselves in the mountain, and listen again to the voice of the world. Moon-dog Back-stitch is a coming together of observations and reflections. Brand and Emily interlace their photographs with poems from several authors which were inspired by their recordings. In this blend of multiple writen and visual voices and interpretations comes a project of a mountain trail, not from any one particular perspective, but as a holistic experience. These mythical tales rooted in the land help to weave our collective soul. Have we lost sight of them for good? We immerse ourselves in the mountains, and listen again to the voice of the world. A collaborative photographic project with Brand Kurpershoek To be published by NECK

Unblossomed Hydrangeas The Hague, Netherlands emily-josephine-rooney.com/Unblossomed-Hydrangeas To prove that what is to come is wildly unexpectable and that there is a beauty in that unknown, I looked backwards. Stones and further, the landscape they derive from, serve as a reminder of the unpredictability of the passing of time. Shaped by their experience, placed by events no longer visible, the land and its components hold stories of the past. They serve as proof of the chaos in this dynamic system that we call life on Earth.

2025Undertow Book Maya Whitehouse A publication exploring the human experience through a curated collaboration of work. This publication is a form of provocation, tenderly exploring the existing conversations and discourses impacting our emotions and shaping our identities. Each edition will showcase work from young and established creatives. Demonstrating how their responses differ to each theme and highlighting the importance of creative opinions. The first edition will be centred around the notion of Overwhelm, what causes it and how it appears across our lives.

2024Z3NE Book ZONE www.thezonezine.com/issue/z3ne-3/ Shy, silent, hesitant images start to open up. They start revealing sides of them which remained hidden so far. Small dialogues emerge. Then they get louder and louder. Individual notes become a whole orchestra. That’s why we prefer listening to the images and not starting with a specific idea in mind. We are interested in works that suggest instead of showing. Whisper instead of shouting. Something violent can become heavier when communicated in a soft manner. Sometimes light becomes the best way to evoke darkness… The book is divided into chapters, they remain without a name.

2022Darlings Book The Hague, Netherlands pineappleroadpress.com/Darlings November 26, 2022, during the Open Day at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Pineapple Road Press, a photography collective made up of four former students, made a zine in a day. The framework of this publication was highlighting the raw and unadulterated love of an image without the need for context, motive, or function. They asked both fresh and practiced photographers attending the Open Day to contribute their “Darling’s” to the publication that was then sequenced, printed and bound in the same day. They see this photo-object as a record of the time, and of the people that participated. What catches an artist’s eye and heart in this day and age? During this Open Day, established for those that are considering to expand their artistic practices, they reminded artists to never let go of the love of their craft and the joy it can bring to let go of all criticisms for the sake of that gut feeling that makes you say - “I made this and I really like it”

2021Under Her Gaze We Feel Golden Book Pineapple Road press The Hague, Netherlands pineappleroadpress.com/Under-Her-Gaze-We-Feel-Golden She greets us with her glorious persistence. She surrounds us with her warm embrace. In summer, the sun is watching over us as we dance through life. She is our medicine from the sickness of our daily routine. Leaving the toxic spectacle of society in the dark, we are awakened to a fresh state of consciousness. Allowing us, at last, to embrace the rejuvenation of our being. We asked ourselves when this transformation happens. It is when we celebrate endless days together. When we wander aimlessly within unfamiliar mountains. When we feel the tingly sensation of her light on our skin.
