Garbage Mansion or The Possibility of a Haunting is a dark fairy tale that combines film, live performance, and puppetry. You enter an installation that reflects the whimsical horror story of a supernatural hoarder's house and the chaos, clutter, and intimacy it holds. In a world that produces and discards so much physical, cultural, and human waste, hoarding is a relevant vehicle through which we can look closer at our relationship with waste. In this piece, artists Marieke and Ghazale make use of storytelling as they wonder; where do things go? And how do we live with the possibility of being hauntes by that which we throw away? art directors & makers Ghazale Moqanaki, Marieke Peeters set design August Auberdine, Marieke Peeters performers An Kuper, Elinos d’Estais music Ghazale Moqanaki singers Fran Van Lysebettens, Isa Bornau Photo by Luna Obsidia

In this dollhouse, we see curious creatures hiding behind animal faces. They play in a space where identity is fluid, where appearances shift like dreams, reminding us of ancient myths, the tales we craft about ourselves and who we might become. I chose mythical creatures because myths have always shaped how we see power—how it flows, transforms, and affects our lives. Myths are the original stories of hierarchy and rebellion, of kings and gods, of beasts that defy their creators. They mold our understanding of roles within society, showing us how authority is constructed and maintained, and how it can be questioned. They remind us that power itself is often an illusion, a story we’ve been taught to believe. Photo by Django van Ardenne

A short album composed by Ghazale Moqanaki. The idea comes from memory of an old Iranian song that slowly by the end of the album it alienates itself more and more from the original.

The video was made for a collaborative festival between University of Tehran and University of Freiburg. In Bakhtak's (hag’s) conflict with the puppet, both are not in a good condition. Both are dissatisfied with the new situation. When this conflict turns into fatigue, they look for a solution to end this conflict. But the reality is that experience cannot be erased and always stays with them. Both have changed and metamorphed to new creatures at the end of the story. 2026Book Launch of 'Between our Fingers' SeeLab Den Haag, Netherlands On January 16th from 18:00-20:30, Ghazale Moqanaki and Marieke Peeters present the launch of ‘Between Our Fingers’, a publication exploring the conceptual framework of the doll’s house at SeeLab. The publication features contributions from artists Lore Pilzecker, Sohrab Kashani, Kiara Amartya, Ghazale Moqanaki, and Marieke Peeters who each approach the miniature from a different perspective. Bringing together essays, poetry, and visual artworks that interrogate the miniature as a site for reflection on domesticity, precarity, fantasy, and agency. Historically, the doll’s house used to represent a particular cultural and social model of domestic life and reinforced that. Today, the doll’s house can be anything and it reveals desires, anxieties, and imagined realities that are otherwise difficult to articulate. This book examines the doll’s house as a symbol of control and desire, as well as a space of imaginative freedom in response to the increasingly inaccessible reality of housing as a right. The book launch at SeeLab includes a performance program alongside video installations by contributors of the publication. The evening presents readings from the publication, a music performance by Ghazal Faghihi, and miniature food. Together, the publication and accompanying program present the doll’s house as a tool for imagination, critical reflection, and creative experimentation inviting visitors to reconsider the small worlds that reflect our own. www.seelab.nl/program/2026/between-our-fingers Group

It is a dark fairy tale that combines film, live performance, and puppetry inside an immersive installation. The installation reflects the whismical horror story of a supernatural hoarder's house and the chaos, clutter, and intimacy it holds. The hoarder's house becomes a portal in which we encounter the knitting of the universe and animate garbage. In a world that produces and doscards so much physical, cultural, and human waste, hoarding is a relevant vehicle through which we can look closer at our relationship with waste. 2024Bad Objects Quartair the Hague, Netherlands Bad Objects was a group show organised by Ghazale Moqanaki and Marieke Peeters. With Bad Objects, we reflect on the enchanting yet unsettling nature of the doll's house. When buying a 'real' house is steadily becoming a disappearing reality for many, there is solace in the fantasy that the doll's house provides in imagining our ideal world. In how it invites us to dream. ghazalemoqanaki.com/buraq Group
