A Mukbang Love Story is an extension of my graduation Thesis: Mukbang the phenomenon of watching people eat online. I presented this video in an installation for my graduation work, combining painting and video to create an immersive environment for the viewer. The video reflects on our manipulated love that has been carefully crafted by advertisement companies and social media algorithms. The main part of this video features a 3 minute song made by ASMR Mukbang sounds.

Climate Control is a series of 6 Doom Scenarios mocking and celebrating the shared feeling of doom as a result of climate crisis. The shared feeling is mocked with a sense of playfulness, finding the coming to the end of humanity as amusing and delightful!

This is a video project I made in 2021, working with a group of creative friends for the first time! The video was a part of a 3 projection installation that also included a wall collage with images from the video and working as CYRUSDIY's advertisement. Synopsis: In the mechanized utopia of the 41st Century humans live in symbiosis with technology, they have successfully transcended to a state of superhuman robotic euphoria - but not all were so fortunate……. Those who were unable to conform to this new reality experienced a reverse effect, rather than becoming more cybergenetic they returned to primal forms, part human part animal, they are referred to as the “Sub-Humans”. Cyrus DIY is an influencer of the 41st century, beloved idol of the Sub-Humans, in an effort to reach “Super Human” status she produces and promotes a drug called ECCA-6-TAMOL, unknown to many this campaign was fully funded by the sinister “Super Human Elite Council Government (SHECG) for short”. What you are about to witness is a celebration of this new miracle drug, a gathering of young sub humans friends, what will happen when they ingest ECCA-6-TAMOL?

I don't want to speak english anymore is a parody video using references of James Bond to explore my genuine frustrations with the english language and my struggels with relating or even finding home. Despite being half swedish and half chinese, my most comfortable language to communicate in is english. The video cuts between two part. The first is a monologue taken from my notebook that i wrote in swedish after physically feeling stuck when trying to write down my thoughts. It got to the point where i physically felt at ease when i started writing in Swedish. The second part is a parody of James Bond, where i act as Jane Bond getting ready to fight with Professor English Supremacy. I specifically act out the scene from Golden finger as i found out through my research that the origional scene was based on a real story of Peter Tazalaar (who james bond is based on) arriving on the scheveningen beach. The video becomes a tri-dialogue between me, the english language and all that it represents and the hague, which is where i currently reside. Towards the end of the video i include a segment in Chinese, specifically a Chinese poem my mom taught me when i was young about reminiscing of your hometown. I still don't recognize what home is to me.

Like the Withering of a rotting stone in the sea is a direct translation from a Chinese proverb: 海枯石烂 (hai ku shi lan) which describes an unconditional love. This video explores this proverb in a theatrical way between two puppets in the surreal landcape of Morocco, while also reflecting on the ideas, feelings and realities of unconditional love. The two are seen dancing together in a supposedly passionate way with the slow build up of 'Bolero' by Maurice Ravel playing in the background, adding on to the gradual growth of the two together. Towards the end of the video there is an exert taken from Michale Curtiz's 'Casablanca' film that similarly showcases an unconditional first love between Rick and Ilsa.

During the summer of 2019 i visited New York for the fist time ever. It was a 2 week solo trip, and i spent most of my time walking around, chatting and observing the people and the spectacle that is New York. Like most people i only knew New York from the television, so it was fascinating to feel the actual city for myself. During one of my lower days sitting by the water canal in Manhattan, i started hearing a beat in my head and began to write some lyrics along with it. (The water and caged metal from 00:48 is where i was when i thought of this hehe) This slowly developed into this video that is also completely made out of footage from my iphone camera. The video consists of some of the most prominent observations i made during my trip!
