Elbows on the Table focuses on visualising dinner scenarios as a performative act that plays with the ideas of Western table manner. It comes from questioning the possibilities of creating different eating scenarios and behavior at the dinner table, by simply not holding our cutleries with our hands. This will allow us to explore how much change this behavior would bring to our accustomed table manners and the accepted etiquette around the dinner table. —— Performers, Anne-Florence Neveu, Tingyi Jiang, Milu Chen, Leon Lapa Pareira, Jacco Borggreve. At some point in time, the idea of the consumption of food was transformed from a biological necessity into a carefully cultured phenomenon of lifestyle. All the information we have about food and eating has been passed on and developed from generation to generation to the cultures of today. These are the things we call our table manners or food ethics. The ways we consume and process or choose to socialize around food. In my perspective, these ideas were built to reduce violent social interactions, as well as crave for stronger bonds urging people to find spaces where they can be peaceful; like a dinner table. Since food and dining are very important ways for social interactions, securing unity and eradicating violence may have become cultural missions for some. But is it the case? How effectively do societies establish this peace at the table? The dinner focuses on visualizing dinner scenarios as a performative act that plays with the ideas of Western table manners. It comes from questioning the possibilities of creating different eating scenarios and behavior at the dinner table, by simply not holding our cutleries with our hands. This will allow us to explore how much change this behavior would bring to our accustomed table manners and the accepted etiquette around the dinner table.

We will give a different context to our graduation work and experience its development in a new light. Who are we? We are a group of nine KABK graduates. All of us are specialized in different artistic disciplines; now coming together to organize this multi-disciplinary show. This edition of OYO will share a diverse selection of works, where expressions and functions are materialized through several mediums and materials. www.thehagueonline.com/event/the-haagse-kunstkring-presents-on-your-own-5?instance_id=62734 Group

Visitors are invited to experience dining with new tools developed by the two artists. Four different courses of small appetizers will be served along with the performative showcasing of the dining tools. “Don’t play with your food! is just one of the things your parents might have told you, but we want you to do just that. We want to explore the role of the body in the act of eating; turning your dinner into a playful act. Have you noticed how a slightly bent fork or spoon can distract you from your mindless meal? How disturbing and new it seems at the beginning until you get used to the slight change. We want to recognize the discomfort of learning and find comfort in it. When our movements are free from the table’s limitations, we can observe how the body and mind behave in the act of learning.”

2020Acousticalm MTF Stocholm Stockholm, Sweden Winning 3rd Place in 24 Hours Hackcamp that happened in MTF Stockholm. As the population of cities grow, the pressure on and crowding of infrastructure grows. Public spaces become stressful sites of sensory overload. We want to identify the the stressful factors of a given environment and offer relief, a moment of redirecting the mind and calming the body with sound. We have created two use cases, each complementing the other.
