The shelf, or rather former holder of shelves is photographed in the main Library of the Technical University of Tbilisi, Georgia. The library dates back to the Soviet times, when it was an active hub of information and knowledge. Currently, after falling into oblivion and disrepair for more than a decade, it is trying to assert its importance once again. The work deals with the concrete symbols of knowledge or absence thereof, while on a personal level, it deals with the feeling of void, and emptiness, which is puzzling/confusing to someone who is experiencing it.

Black and Red, 2017, 31x21cm, diptych, lambda prints, framed. The pens photographed are both black, while the title misleads. The work questions the power of labelling.

Here, I am interested in the fluidity of any kind of landscape, be that personal, social, cultural, or geographical.

A mandarin falls from the tree at 28 seconds. The video image is fixed and very still, resembling the photograph of a tree, only falling man- darin seems to betray the medium. The work deals with expectation, alert stillness, looking.

site-specific work Although the work itself is independent, the title of the work refers to the adjacent door. So, the door might represent the work as such, rather than a strip of scotchtape on the wall.

Title is an homage to the French film director Eric Rohmer); The work depicts the old metronome at work. Arrows of the metronome show different rhythms, and these rhythms are presented simultaneously in the viewing space. The work among other things points at background stillness of the body of metronome against movement of arrows.

in between the screens, installation with eight images, lambda prints. The work was made while flipping TV channels as fast as possible. It refers to a gap in between the constant stream of thoughts, images, projections, information.

In this work, consisting of 7 images, the same person is photographed from his back, as he undertakes walks in the hills surrounding the city. The back blocks the scenery from the viewer in such a way that it becomes impossible to see what’s behind the back. Subsequently, the gaze is turned back towards the viewer, creating a very subtle feeling of self-awareness, as if one is standing at the center, and the person in the photographs is looking at the viewer from different sides

The work explores the perception and feeling of the immediate surroundings in here and now, ideas of being and non being against the background of color green (with a reference to its use as a transparent color in film and TV industry)

installation with ve photographs, lambda prints, 54x36cm. The 5 photographs are made from 5 chairs that surround the table, e.i. from each perspective of a person, sitting at the round table. It is inspired by a photo of the Georgian statesmen sitting at a round table, in a garden, (taken in 1921), discussing as to how to defend the country from Russian invasion. The work is part of my research that concerns presenting places as process, rather than something static and physical; exploring not only one position, one perspective, but a passage; in between subjective and ‘objective’ modes of perception, where there is no one locality but relationship.

info
The work concerns the constructed nature of boundaries that mark out both our physical and mental spaces, as well as human fear of void, emptiness, unknown.
-
info
The work concerns the act of perception and self-perception by means of looking at the outside object, as well as questioning accuracy of ‘mirror’ reflection.

this installation refers to stories of displacement, movement, and accumulation of various narratives and memories of both personal and historical events, which has been made xed and manifested in certain patterns/marks left on the wallpapers in former Hotel Iveria, Tbilisi, Georgia. The hotel Iveria was one of the most luxu- rious Soviet hotels in Georgia, which was turned into a shelter for refugees from two wars in breakaway regions of Georgia, in the early 90s. Later on in 2009, it was converted it into a 5 star Radisson Blue chain hotel

2015Strange Worlds Fondazione Fotografia Modena, Italy The exhibition deals with the representation of different worlds, may be near or far, where unusual stories are brought about by social, cultural, or religious context. According to the curator Filippo Maggia, “images on display create an exciting sequence of faces and traditions, an interactive mosaic, which is indeed the real and ultimate picture of our times”. www.fondazionefotografia.org/en/mostra/strange-worlds/ Group

2014Just Add Water CCA Andtrax Andtrax, Spain JUST ADD WATER! presents a wide range of carefully selected works by approximately 20 international artists that have all used the subject of water in their own, characteristic and fascinating way. The exhibition explores the representation of water as a theme in a wide array of media including painting, video, drawing, photography and sculpture. Water is the precursor for all life and therefore it has been, is and always will be a motif of inspiration, awe, joy and fear. By highlighting how water can be used realistically, symbolically and metaphorically, the exhibition conveys and interprets the representation of water in inspiring and challenging ways. A flowing stream, a turbulent ocean or a calm lake can help us determine the overall mood of the artwork. The presence of water often has a deeper symbolic meaning, creating a feeling of pureness or life. www.ccandratx.com/en/p332/agenda_12/just-add-water-nomes-amb-aigua.html Group
