The colour of Chameleons proposes a path of introspective listening, winding through large, human-sized ceramic vessels acting as resonators. Putting your ear against the listening hole of a vessel, an intimate sonic experience unfolds. The interaction between the incoming sound’s changes in air pressure, and the form of the internal cavity of each vessel, shapes how it filters and amplifies what it receives: a sibylline story made of resonant frequencies, poetry, and what comes after the end of a sentence. In this work, Koenraad de Groot entangles the scientific and the poetic. By experiencing how each vessel interprets the external world in its own way, we are invited to meditate on how every being experiences the world from a different perspective and how, through listening, we can experience different perspectives and open up to the world.

These porcelain pumpkin seeds can be used to listen to freshly baked pumpkin seeds. The seeds will start to tinkle because of change in temperature. The vessels are also becoming warm and you can eat the seeds afterwards.

2025Hulko Struer Tracks '25 Streur, Denmark Hulko is a performative installation developed by Maryia Kamarova and kunrad. Inspired by the mythical and playful history of the Hulko stone we create a performance using a custom sonical modular loop system powered by one motor. Starting with this one motor we build upon the loop system creating an ever changing complex sonical landscape. The performative installation features materials like chalkstone idiophones, oyster shells, absolute electronic parts, and sheets of paper. struertracks.dk/ Duo

2022Perte de Signal, Rustine Labs, Montreal, Canada Montreal, Canada Entrepôt 77 is a performance from the Architectural Embodiment series, where an architectural structure comes to life through the dynamic use of hammers and ropes. Developed during a residency in Montreal, Canada in 2022, in collaboration with Perte de Signal, this marked my first experience working with other performers and assuming the role of a conductor. The performance unfolds within the burned-down building of Entrepôt 77, situated in Montreal's Mile-End neighborhood alongside the train tracks. Positioned at the center of the structure, the audience becomes immersed in the action as two performers on each side create a captivating interplay. The constant movement of hammers and ropes draws attention from left to right, evoking the feeling of watching a tennis match while physically engaging the entire body. The performance's essence lies in the dialogue between the structure's lines and the vibrant yellow ropes, sometimes taut, sometimes loose. As each viewer's perspective constantly shifts, a unique interplay of lines unfolds, resulting in a captivating experience. perte-de-signal.org/

2022residency, Overtoon, Brussel Brussels, Belgium In the spring of 2022, I conducted a residency at Overtoon in Brussels, in collaboration with iMal. During this residency, I developed a modular instrument consisting of five dispensers, each filled with brass tubes. These tubes produce sound as they fall. Additionally, I composed a piece specifically for the system during the residency. In total, 1000 tubes fall during a performance. www.overtoon.org/research/between-copper-and-zinc/

2025Kleine geluiden - e230 Cd/Dvd Cronica Koenraad de Groot Porto, Portugal www.cronicaelectronica.org/230/ Over the past six years, I have created installations and performances that celebrate the small, often overlooked sounds embedded in our daily lives, placing them on a pedestal. From machines that transform rain and paper into the first Physical Audio Workstation, to contraptions that send 1,000 small brass tubes ringing and tumbling through the air. Performances where stones are thrown into water with intent, or a human-powered carillon, spanning 50 meter long ropes, harnesses, and rubber hammers striking a bridge at the heart of a city. Driven by my passion for field recording, I captured these fleeting, temporal moments using an ever-changing array of microphone setups. Now, I am delighted to present these recordings, extracted from their original artworks and curated into a new, standalone listening experience. I hope this album will act like a book, inviting you to imagine the contraptions, the spaces, and invent new stories behind the sounds. In this way, it becomes a canvas for your imagination, a place where new worlds emerge so that kleine geluiden, small sounds, find new ways to enrich our daily lives.
