During the Iranian uprising since the murder of Mahsa/Zina Amini, many Iranians fell victim to the subsequent brutal repression of the protests by the current regime of Iran. Some of the most memorable words of these protestors have turned into endless echoes of the stories behind their tragic deaths, resonating within the hearts of everyone that wishes a better future for Iran. We are the generation who for the rest of their lives will remember the brave heart Nika Shakarami every time we hear “Don't laugh guys”. The artwork is no more than a moment of the artistic process, frozen in time. In “Documentation of a Possible Artwork: ‘Iran’”, however, the process itself is exhibited as the finalised work. Ideas and concepts that reflect the state of my home country Iran: full with ideas and future plans, lying dormant in the minds and hearts of its people, bristling with the urge to be realised in a new society, welcoming and embracing their full potential. An artist studio has more than artworks to offer. Artistic practice can be understood as an ecosystem in which ideas, concepts and materials are explored. An artist studies these elements in different potential relationships, progressing through collections of possible future art pieces until setting on the final constellation of elements that becomes known as the produced artwork. When looking at an artwork, one can relive the processes that an artist has gone through in creation. It is perhaps one of the greatest experiences of an artwork, to have a journey through the production process, including the emotional and technical parts.

2023Daily Defiance KV02 The Hague , Netherlands We are a group of artists and individuals unified with a common concern of our Homeland. In the Daily Defiance Exhibition, we will gather to observe different artforms created during the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. Art plays a vital role in protest movements by catalyzing changes that nations and groups seek in order to actualize their dreams for freedom and social justice. Also, in this exhibition we will look at decades of oppression of women and how they have found their voice with the current movement, which is a feminist revolution. We would like to invite you to visit our exhibition at KV02, The Hague. This exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, videos and digital art, short movies, performances, and talks. ourdailydefiance.wordpress.com/ Group

Echoes of The Past The Hague, Netherlands sepidehj.com "Echoes of the Past" (started in 2021) draws on the paradox between ceramic, being one of the most sustaining materials ever created by humans, with what it depicts – namely, erosion and decay. This material quality of 'fixed decaying' evokes associations with a rich culture that is painfully unknown to the rest of the world. In this vein, the project considers the potential to recollect the cultural and topographical landscapes of Iran.

"Documentary of a Possible Artwork" The Hague, Netherlands sepidehj.com/2017/07/01/documentation-of-a-possible-artwork-corner/ This is an ongoing art project started in 2016 The possibility of an artwork can be understood from a collection of absurd acts. An absurd act being a continual process of a never existing artwork. The filmed material does not follow a structure – it brings some of my social and feminine issues together with the idea of documentation as an artistic format. So far, two docu-installations have taken place regarding this project in The Hague and Rotterdam: “Documentation of a Possible Artwork: ‘Corner’” and “Documentation of a Possible Artwork: ‘Iran’”

2023Divided Connections The Hague, Netherlands Searching for her roots and background in depth and inspired by nature and rituals, Loïs Brandsen designed ten well crafted outfits, for which I was invited to design a series of jewels. Having a lot in common in our visual and conceptual inspirations with Brandsen, made this project an opportunity for me to express myself within a collaboration with another creative person. www.instagram.com/loisbrandsen/ finished
