A chaire follows the human form and is meaningful in its function and who uses it. But they are not necessary and are a very western concept.

This sculpture, carved from Belgian marble, a sedimentary stone. Which means that a swamp has been compressed to stone in a period of several million years. Plastic comes from oil, that originates in the life forms on earth millions of years ago. I have combined the two facts in a sculpture that shows melting plastic and the metamorfoses of ancient organic material, in modern product and provide a small monument for the materials that are so essential for human civilisation.

The womb is the space where life starts. The heart is the space which allows us to live and finally determines when we will die. There are only so many times a heart can beat. These two organs define life and I have therefore made for them this small monument. Most people assume this is a human heart and womb. But we are not unique. This could also be the heart and womb of a pig, a whale or a horse. They could be from any mammal. Does that matter? Not really. All life has a beginning and an end. We are bon. We die. In between we exist.

As Thoth's sacred animal, the baboon is often shown directing scribes when using their tablets and smart phones. Baboons also carry out Thoth's duties as the god of measurement and they weigh the heart of the deceased in the judgement of the dead. Personal sacrifices while making use of tablet and smart phones are not uncommon. Sometimes people will even offer their lives to the god whilst holding on to their sacred devices.
