2023City Camouflage Amsterdam Light Festival Amsterdam Light Festival, Netherlands The brick canal wall, glistening water, sunlight reflecting from a window. Marleen Sleeuwits sees beauty in the common elements of daily street life. Their textures, colours and forms are like the skin of the urban landscape. The photos Sleeuwits took by day now appear as monumental images at night. They function as an extra layer draped over our reality – a surreal glitch that forces you to see the city in a different light. And when you peel off just a tiny piece from it, a mysterious orange surface appears. Are we in fact living in one big collage? amsterdamlightfestival.com/nl Group

2022Royal encounters Escher in het Paleis The Hague, Netherlands Escher in The Palace is set to host a royal encounter this autumn. The work of 10 artists based in The Hague will be on display as part of the Royal Encounters exhibition, a dialogue between tradition and experimentation, between past and present. Escher in The Palace invited the artists to produce new graphic work, drawing inspiration from Lange Voorhout Palace and its principal resident, Queen Mother Emma. The artists were challenged to step outside their comfort zone for this exhibition, as they are ordinarily engaged in a wide array of different disciplines, from major architectural installations to photography. Their innovative approach is yielding a colourful palette of artworks. A kaleidoscopic perspective on history which shows that graphic art is more than two-dimensional work on paper. From an imprinted robe to a silk screen window to a golden etching: the possibilities of the graphic medium are endless. escherinhetpaleis.nl/tentoonstelling/koninklijke-ontmoetingen/ Group
