This work was created during a period in which I was immersed in the history of women in labour. I also reflected on my artistry and my own memories of pregnancy and motherhood. The drawing was developed intuitively and improvisationally.

Sois belle et tais-toi (Be Pretty and Shut Up) No.4 Influences during the drawing process: In the period 21.8.23 11.12.23 7.1.24 I was working on the drawing. I then read Cat Bohannon's book EVA in which she talked about women's bones having to walk upright somewhere in evolution. I was also reading from Don Quixote the story of Anselmo and Otario Sois belle et tais-toi is a French documentary directed by Delphine Seyrig, shot in 1975 and 1976 and released in 1981. The film consists of some 20 interviews between the director and actresses of different nationalities and takes its title from Marc Allégret's 1958 film of the same name, referring to the place the interviewed actresses said they had to take in their professional lives.

For 4 days the platformsProject 2024 lasted in Athens. Each day we let it like the tides wash up art and take it back again The last day the tide turned and the public took artworks. In my washes, I introduced giving birth women, newborns, nurses and ants and men clubs.

Schoonschrift, Beeldvuil is een tekst die ik op 21 juli 2024 noteerde in dit boek. In 2020 begon ik met deze boeken om dag-schrijven en dag-tekenen elkaar te laten beinvloeden. Veel pagina’s bevatten links de geschreven tekst of woordassociaties en rechts meestal een tekening. Een strikte scheiding maak ik niet altijd.

(women-souls-language) DH. Series: Whence No.1 Influences during the drawing process: Joke Hermsen speaks and writes about the language of women. Women learned a foreign language, that of patriarchy. I read Lou Andreas von Salomé's account of Nietzsche and Rilke. The historiography puts Lou Salomé away as Nietzsche's muse. The title How did I get Here? is after the Talking Heads' song of the same name

Influences during the drawing process: Location: Arteventura in south-west Spain, Andalusia I read the story of Marcela ( in the translation by Barber van der Pol) in Don Quichote by Miquel de Cervantes I listened to an interview in which Connie Palmen talks about the book “Jij zegt het” (about the lives of Sylvia Plath and Ted Huges)
