2024INVISIBILITIES’ Manifestations Dutch Design Week Eindhoven, Netherlands Let's look at what we don't want to see. Without looking away or forgetting. And experience how our choices affect the world around us. Are you ready to expand your view? The theme ‘INVISIBILITIES’ is about things that often remain invisible in our society. A well-known example is victim blaming (Victim Blaming). After all, surely it is natural for our elderly to go to the care home, and surely countries like Ghana are happy with our large quantities of discarded Western textiles? This kind of thinking helps us ‘solve’ problems: out of sight, out of mind. In addition, homeless people are often moved to remote places and people with mental problems are locked up in institutions. You can see this as a modern way of ‘ostracising’: we isolate people under the guise of safety and order, but actually we just don't want to see them. And what do we do with ideas we find troublesome: do we banish those too? Technology makes this even easier: we can increasingly live in our own bubble, where we only see what we want to see. Whereas now is precisely the time to reflect on the question: How can we do better? 2024.manifestations.nl/about-us/ Group

The Mannequins The Hague , Netherlands ammstudio.nl/index.php/mannequins/ This mannequin is a physical convergence of the Western ideal of female beauty. She is a representative of the female beauty image. She is the confluence of all kinds of elements that Amy opposes as a maker.

Rolls & Filet The Hague , Netherlands ammstudio.nl/index.php/roles-and-filet/ An examination of my opinion on boudoir photography, the way we depict women and ‘celebrate’ being a woman with this photography. I am still at the beginning of this project. Questions I keep myself busy with in this project: How we see women, see ourselves as women and want to be seen? We fetishise and sexualise everything and therefore all the images we make. What if all this sexualisation no longer mattered? Only then can we celebrate ourselves? Or do we need the sexualisation to celebrate ourselves? Have we turned all insecurities into a business model? Has boudoir photography gone from an art to a revenue model?

Sliding Genders St Joost Breda , Netherlands ammstudio.nl/index.php/glijdende-genders/ In the video installation ‘Sliding Genders’, I question visions about genders and their roles. Snails are hermaphrodites, meaning they have both male and female sex organs. Using the slimy intersex snails, recognisable objects and audio fragments, the absurdity of these expected male, female roles is revealed. In Sliding Sliders, I project the binary gender roles onto the snails for whom human gender roles do not apply. In a playful way, I show that we can still learn much more from nature than thought, also with regard to our social interaction. The video installation ‘Sliding genders’ consists of two large snail sculptures. Inside each shell is a screen on which a video plays. In the videos, you hear texts from recent Dutch media that have been re-recorded and made anonymous. The voices proclaim two hugely polarised opinions.
