A project in early stages, [components] is concerned with places from memory, morphed by time, bias, trauma, and nostalgia. I chose the breezeblock (كلوسترا / مشربية) as the first objects to be made because of their heavy presence during my up-bringing in Lebanon- as a commonly used architectural element- and because of the diversity of their pattern designs. I decided to create three pattern types: traditional, ornamental, abstract, and early internet culture symbolism, challenging the status of the internet computer as a place.

A series of paintings including text from diary entries from the past 4 years. Painted onto postcards, they act as time capsules both from the past and for the future. Within these texts, I often utilize metaphor, subtext, and humor to undercut their severity and instead lean into a less linear way of writing that better resembles the unpredictability of my thoughts and feelings. This form of writing also prioritizes omission, which is a quality I value within my work, as I believe it opens up the storyline to endless interpretations

Video from my thesis project on haunted places. Places are the subject of this performative documentary. Filmed in collaboration with friends in various countries, the video merges the real and false lore of the subjects, and questions not only what stories these places could hold, but what gives them the title of place to begin with.

The video also includes a narrative about the shifting public reaction to the tape recorder through the years, beginning with curious amusement, to wariness, and finally, doom.

HTTTP: How to Talk to Places [REAL] St Joost 's-Hertogenbosch Den Bosch, Netherlands www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNXQ5DPzU9g Part of "On Haunted Places", my graduation project. As a viral video challenge encourages people to interview the places in their lives, HTTTP questions what kind of stories places could hold, and what gives them the title of place to begin with. The video also nods to growing up online, and the unstable border between our bodies and virtual space.
