At'e Wega is a installation/performance where Eugenie, Pega Saya, her alter ego performs as if she were in a conversation with herself about the real situation on the island of Curacao which she believes is on that is dualistic. Religion, education and social construct is the trinity that forms this dualistic reality which causes stagnation to both personal lives of the people as development of the country. The installation is a reference to the monopoly board game with a dead end road of mens erger je niet with references to o.a dutch clompen, illustration of lady justitia and dominos.

2021All INN Graduation Show Het Hem Zaandam, Netherlands Nine art academies, a hundred and seventy-five young artists, one exhibition. For the first time in history, recently graduated art academy students from all fine arts bachelor’s programmes in the Netherlands are presenting their work together. ALL INN chooses collaboration over competition and collectivity over individualism. The initiative anticipates the uncertainty of an artistic career by offering young artists a broad introduction to the art world. This, on one hand, translates into a carefully constructed exhibition that highlights the dialogue between various works and current tendencies in the arts, and on the other hand, into an extensive public program curated by the young makers themselves. ALL INN was initiated by nine Dutch bachelor’s degree programmes in fine arts, in collaboration with curator Rieke Vos. Het HEM is the generous innkeeper that welcomes ALL INN and its visitors and embraces them with warmth and care. The project has been made possible with the support of Mondriaan Fonds, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, NN Group and Stichting Stokroos hethem.nl/en/Het-Hem/Calendar/2021/03/ALL-INN#About-ALL-INN Group

2021A softer space Kunstpodium T Tillburg, Netherlands During the course of the Apprentice Master project at Kunstpodium T, Megan Auður, Eugenie Boon, Elisa Klabbers, Wanda Tiersma and Julius Thissen based their work on tender conversations around notions of care and gentleness. This resulted in the group exhibition A Softer Space. Within this exhibition, the five artists focus on softness and community as a crucial aspect of the creation of artistic work. What can be considered an act of (self) care? Can vulnerability between artists, instead of competition, enable communal growth? Within A Softer Space the artists try to connect, heal, fail, play, rest and debate. kunstpodium-t.com/event/apprentice-master-5-julius-thissen/ Group

2021The Art Fair -SmartDistanceLab de kromhouthal Amsterdam, Netherlands On August 28, 29 and 30, the first Smart Distance Lab edition The Art Fair took place in the large space of the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. During this event, research was conducted into various corona measures during events. Scientists and companies worked together to investigate in practice which measures work well, what can be improved and which new smart solutions can be devised. Think of different types of directional traffic, buzzers and mouth caps. During this art fair, people were asked questions and filmed before, during and afterwards. The buzzers also contained technology with which the number of violations could be measured. The graduation work of the 28 best graduates from 2019 and 2020 can be seen during the art fair. The artists have been selected in collaboration with curators, art schools, galleries and artists and are intensively coached by art professionals in the run-up to the fair. smartdistancelab.nl/the-art-fair/ Group

2021"Gun nos tambe" KunstenLab Deventer, Netherlands Opening The exhibition will be opened on Sunday 27 June at 3 p.m. by Eugenie Boon with a performance 'In loving memory of mimicry' in which she enters into a dialogue with his work. Boon performs as 'Pega Saya' to explore concepts such as memory, imitation and reflection. Eugenie Boon graduated in 2020 from the HKU in Utrecht. Her work consists of different media, such as performances, paintings, and installations. They revolve around her upbringing in Curaçao, the history of the island and the historical relations with the Netherlands. In doing so, she questions the complex relationships that are interwoven in our culture and invites the viewer to reflect on their own position and points of view. On Tuesday 22 June, Eugenie Boon will also be a guest on Mister Motley's podcast Kunst is Lang. You can follow this live or listen to it later on Spotify or the PodcastApp. kunstenlab.nl/tentoonstellingen/gun-nos-tambe/

2021Rooted - Uprooted- Sense of Place - Refresh Amsterdam CBK Zuid Oost Amsterdam , Netherlands The culture of a city is not static but is determined by people from all kinds of backgrounds, networks and traditions who are constantly in flux. People who are visibly and invisibly connected, try to feel at home, and have to relate to each other. Sense of place is about people, their perception of a place and the ways in which they make that place a home. Amsterdam is a metropolis and a super diverse place, partly shaped by people who are here through voluntary migration and (the aftermath of) forced migration in the past. Issues such as inclusion and exclusion, identity and polarization play a role in the social debate about this. At the same time, established institutions such as museums often determine from a dominant Eurocentric view which histories and stories are collected and told. In the exhibition ROOTED / UPROOTED: Sense of Place @ CBK Zuidoost, stories are told from the point of view of artists, almost all of whom have a migration background. Their narrative is about migration, diaspora, cultural hybridity, rooting and uprooting and how this has influenced them. refresh.amsterdam/events/rooted-uprooted-sense-of-place-2/ Group

2020Call for graduates Melkweg Expo & Nestruimte Amsterdam & Den Haag, Netherlands CALL FOR GRADUATES NEST & MELKWEG EXPO IN THE PUBLIC SPACE As all art schools are closed for the time being, the degree shows of graduating students are subject to unforeseen changes on a national level: the exhibitions have either been postponed or are presented in intimate settings. From July, poster billboards in The Hague and Amsterdam will be dedicated to these graduation works. www.melkweg.nl/en/agenda/call-for-graduates-02-07-2020 Group

2021Residency: Extrapool, Nijmegen NL Nijmegen, Netherlands Extrapool visits the graduation exhibitions of the Dutch art academies every year. What keeps these young artists busy? How do they shape their work at the end of their academy days? In the summer of 2020, well-known circumstances made graduation complicated. Academies presented their graduates later or only online. We would have liked to have Distillate take place physically, unfortunately that turned out not to be possible. extrapool.nl/agenda-events/destillaat22/

2021"Coloured Projections on the skin" CBK Zuidoost Amsterdam Zuid Oost, Netherlands An exhibition that averts the colonial white view on the body of color and dismantles it on the basis of current visual art. The exhibition deconstructs the perception of black skin in the visual arts and shows the shared humanity of the body of color. First and foremost is the artistic freedom to shape that body according to one's own insight, according to likeness www.cbkzuidoost.nl/tentoonstellingen/nu-en-verwacht/coloured-projections-on-skin/

2021Laungu Schiedam Museum Schiedam, Nederland Portraits that you don't see enough of in art. In most figurative paintings we see who were important: dressed white men and women. With the purchase of three paintings by Iris Kensmil, Eugenie Boon and Iriée Zamblé, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam is broadening that view and its own collection. "We bought work by artists who portray the diverse world around us, a world that you don't see enough of in art," says director Anne de Haij. ‘The work of Iris Kensmil is also a portrait of Gloria Wekker, emeritus professor of Gender and Ethnicity. Many artists and creatives who speak out about representation in art in their work are inspired by Wekker.' These paintings are in keeping with the museum, which collects work by socially engaged artists, among other things. The purchase is possible thanks to the Mondriaan Fund.

2020"Tra'i Merdia" KPMG kunst collectie Amstelveen, Nederland "Tra'i Merdia" is a work of the series "Ta not hende nan" Within this series of paintings I explore the cultures I grew up with in Curacao through the understanding of cultural anthropology. For every painting in this series I use the methodology of "participant observation". The KPMG Art Collection Foundation aims to make art accessible to interested parties, both internally and externally. We do this by not only displaying works of art in the public areas of the KPMG offices, but also by giving guided tours for interested parties (free of charge and by appointment), exhibiting and/or lending our property items to museums, exhibitions and galleries. In addition, we want to purchase contemporary art from young talented artists and thus offer a stage. In this way we make a (modest) social contribution to (young) artists and the cultural sector. It is precisely for this reason that we prefer to purchase works by young artists that we can continue to follow in their development. It is not our intention to collect a 'museum collection'; that's what a museum is for.
