2023The Unexpected Letter eigen beheer Marilou Klapwijk marilouklapwijk.nl/de-onverwachte-brief Since the launch of It's you or me, I have been collecting readers' addresses in an address book. During crowdfunding I was inspired to distribute my work by post. I find it very striking that I can not only provide the public with work in this way, but also involve them in my work. My work now exists between us. “I have fifteen minutes to wear my coat with you and a bag to read your letter on the corner of the couch." In The Unexpected Letter I highlight the theme of It is you or me. I connect old with new thoughts and take the reader along in my train of thought. I made references, both substantive and visual. In this way it forms a whole. The Unexpected Letter is a folded publication with a final size of 12 by 24.5 cm. The letter exists in an edition of 250.

In the book, a first person and a you person appear in different situations that intermingle and sometimes overlap. The people find each other, but also continually lose each other due to a lack of context.
