My work is my autobiography

My work is my autobiography. Like the 19th century de Goncourt brothers I discribe my practice as an artist and what I encounter in my work and in the world. I do so by using a multitude of media: texts on my weblog, in magazines or in my diaries, images, installations or performances. Whatever the situation requires I apply. Texts and images from my diaries are like fragments of a mirror, cut-outs of images that have been determined by me. By using those I am trying to create an image of society as I experience it and at the same time I put together a selfportrait. Recently I use texts from my diaries as an image. I combine those with painted images in a variation of techniques, using picture elements such as paintstrokes or monochrome planes, with video or with 3D-forms. With these elements I create an image of whatever is relevant in the momnet of the exhibition. On this moment research is relevant, research on ideas, artists and places that have influenced me in the course of my artistic practice and research for the present relevance of those influences.
