Object-Oriented Ontology
In a world where we are surrounded by inanimate matter, I am driven by the idea that objects possess a greater agency which always shifts away from human perception. By considering the consequent trash derived from our use of them, my work focuses on the perception of objects and on exploring how their unconventional representation can reveal new meanings behind everyday situations.
The inspiration comes from everyday objects that take over my attention. Those objects are often defined as cheap or having low-quality designs, and they permanently circulate in our daily lives. They can be ornaments, decorations, items, tools, disposable objects or any replaceable components. Particularly, I feel compassion toward artefacts as their only value resides in their function. Moreover, the combination of shape and purpose is what makes the object fashionable and functional, and consequently, I investigate the visual relationship between its form and pictorial qualities.
I work with painting, photography, and mediums which have mostly two-dimensional formats, for their frontal qualities and the illusion of a three-dimensional perspective they can create. Specifically, through painting, I found the materiality of which the world I see is made. In this way, I create a link with the object to establish a personal dialogue and grow awareness of the variety of values we can attach to objects.

Phone Holder Willem Twee art space 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands Phone Holder is an introspective dialogue with a phone holder. The work is composed of a series of elements such as: paintings on canvas, paintings on transparent PVC, paintings on wood, clay sculptures, PVC objects and a video. The two parts of the installation relate to the dualism of seeing and perceiving: in one there is the object, in the other a cluster of images which arise from the perception of it.
