Exhibited and performed a site specific version of 'Disposition: Prototype #2', at the Kunstbar art gallery in May 2025 for the #81 edition of Hoogtij.

Exhibited and performed a site specific version of 'Disposition: Prototype #2', at the Kunstbar art gallery in May 2025 for the #81 edition of Hoogtij.

The 25kg coat was suspended from the ceiling, attached to a pulley system that I operated from a distance of five meters. Facing the coat, bearing its full weight, I would invite members of the audience to step beneath it. Once the coat was hovering above them, I would slowly lower it onto their shoulders with a controlled pace. As the coat descended and its weight settled, the person’s morphology begins to shift, not only due to the physical pressure altering their posture, but also through the symbolism and experience of wearing it, which influenced their stance, either yielding to or resisting the force.

When perceiving so much against the skin we lose our sense of reference. Applying deep pressure to the body eases the body and allows the system that filters our perceptual stimuli to recuperate.This physical stimulation relieves the body after which it starts to perceive all information again. as means to instigate a sensory interaction. Playing with a detail of subtle elevation, body placement in space is to be perceived in two separable experiences simultaneously ; one of which is the muscle mass that by the eminent compression (derived by the effect of air suction trough a thin sheet of material) will be detained in place. The second one being the gathering of the subtle movement /body placement information. (Stimulated by an inflatable structure creating slight sense of movement/elevation/displacement) These opposed experiences combined establish,’aim to trick’ and artifice the perception of the effect of air pressure and gravity on the body. Through this ‘wearable installation’ I provide pressure to the body, which supports the muscles and relives the feeling of gravity pulling you down. Unlike some forces which have dark and light sides gravity has no duality; it only attracts and never repels.
